Google has introduced the ability for businesses to add social media profile links directly to their verified Google Business Profile that appears across Google’s Search products, including Maps.
Before this change, businesses could not add or control the social media profiles that were displayed on their Google Business listings. Google would crawl this information on the web and try to pair it to the correct Business Profile listing. There were a variety of ways for website owners to influence Google’s selection for social media profile links, which included adding schema markup to the site with the official business social media links, crossing linking social profiles together to established entity connections, etc.
This new option in Google Business Profiles enables businesses to showcase their social media presence alongside other information in Google Search, Maps, and other products as they become available.
Companies with verified Google Business Profiles can add one link per social media site. Available options for social media accounts include:
- Tiktok
- Twitter (now called X)
- YouTube
How to Use the New Google Business Social Media Links Feature
- Go to your Business Profile.
- Click Edit profile Business information Contact.
- Click Social profiles Down arrow .
- In the drop down that opens, select the social media link you would like to add.
- In the web address field, add the link.
- Click Save.
